Kai Smith of Earth -7 had a similar upbringing to his Prime counterpart until Nya died in his arms. Causing him to fall into the darkest parts of his mind and go insane.

Until the events of Skybound, Kai enjoyed his life. However, he would end up holding Nya in his arms as she died. This event changed Kai for the worst as he soon lost his mind, killing the other ninja and later on, the rest of the Elemental Masters.
He would soon be approached by Fire'at'tor who sought his help in conquering the Positive Multiverse. Kai would soon become known as The Insane and went on a recruiting spree to form The Dark Fires.
